The Story of Visscher

Visscher Seafood was founded in 1986 and first focused on the processing of North Sea fish like sole and cod. Around the turn of the millennium, salmon became an increasingly important product for the company. It didn’t take long for Norwegian salmon to become Visscher Seafood’s core product, resulting in the purchase of a dedicated processing line and importing salmon directly from Norway.

Over the years, Visscher Seafood continued to invest in vertical integration in the salmon aquaculture and production industry. The company acquired multiple salmon farms, as well as multiple processing plants and offices in the Netherlands and beyond.

In 2015, our main office was completely rebuilt from the ground up to meet the latest food safety requirements. With more space and new machinery, Visscher Seafood has been able to grow as a worldwide operaring salmon supplier, serving retailers and wholesalers alike. We also continue to utilize our network and knowledge in supplying whitefish to complement our salmon assortment.

More Than 100 Years of Family Business

Visscher Seafood is part of the Brouwer Food Group, a family-owned company with 100 years of food experience. Since its founding in 1923 as a catering supplier, the company has grown into a wholesale group with a passion for food, in the broadest sense.
